Parker Kincade: Being Irish

First, let me say thank you to Emilia for having me today! It’s a pleasure to be here with you and your readers!

When I sat down to write this post, I didn’t know what the hell I was going to write about. Then I thought, “Buck up, Parker! It’s almost March, which means…” Yep. That’s right. It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day. What does that mean to an Irish American girl like me?

First of all, it means it’s time to plan “Irish Fest 2013.” What is Irish Fest, you ask? It’s the one day of the year I make my friends and family eat Irish food, prepared by yours truly. I haven’t planned this year’s menu, but you can bet it will include colcannon (my comfort food) and Irish soda bread (a staple in our house). No carb-free diets around here on St. Patrick’s Day!

Once our bellies are full, Rome and I usually head down to the local pub to hear the live music and visit with our friends. Will I wear a “Kiss me I’m Irish” shirt? Probably. Rome can’t seem to pass up buying me every St. Patrick’s Day shirt he sees, so I’ll have to decide if you should kiss me because I’m Irish, announce that I’m “Magically Delicious” or tell the world “They’re Always After Me Lucky Charms.” I’m open to suggestions. 🙂

Hey! Speaking of Lucky Charms…if you’re getting antsy waiting for my next release, I’ve got a tasty tidbit to tide you over. Beginning on March 11th, the girls and I over at Love, Lust and Laptops are presenting our anthology, Lucky’s Charms…one story at a time. Stay tuned for more information – these stories are smokin’ hot! My story – Devlin – will post on March 21st. Come…get lucky with us!

So, what are your traditions/plans for St. Patrick’s Day? Corned Beef and Cabbage? Green beer? *shudders*

Trivia note: Patrick wasn’t even Irish. *evil laugh*  Sláinte!

In case you missed it, check out my latest release from Liquid Silver Books!

Amanda Martin has the worst taste in men. After being cheated on not once, but twice, she’s lost all faith in men…and in herself. Determined to regain her confidence, Amanda decides to have a one-night stand. No relationship, no promises, no threat of being hurt again…just sex. What she doesn’t anticipate is meeting a handsome-as-sin stranger who will give her pleasure unlike any she’s ever known.

Joe Sterling has spent his life avoiding relationships, his former job as a military sniper not allowing for such commitments. Now he’s come home to Texas, to let go of the past and to prove he is more than the killer he’s been trained to be. When Amanda’s life is threatened, Joe’s killer instinct is tested while Amanda struggles to protect her heart. Will they succumb to their overwhelming desire for each other, or lose it all by letting the past dictate their future?

Emilia goes to graduate school

Sounds like a cheesy porn movie doesn’t it?  Well, it’s not. It’s my life.

I’m half-way through the second semester of me getting my education on.  I’m going getting a master’s in publishing. No, I don’t really know what I’m going to do with it, but I’m sure I’ll find something creative!

This semester, my midterm thesis has to delve into some problem in the publishing industry, expose it, and attempt to resolve it.

My thesis statement was that I would look at self-publishing versus traditional publishing to determine which benefited an author more and in what ways.

My professor felt that was too broad. “Try choosing a genre to focus on.”

Well, every paper, design project, research paper tends to be about the romance genre and I know he’s getting tired of hearing about it, so  I discussed the issue with a classmate and asked her opinion on a genre that would keep me interested but wouldn’t bore my professor to tears.

Without hesitation she said, “Erotica.”

“Erotica?” I asked with horror. “For a grad school thesis?”

“Go with what you know,” she suggested.

So I thought about it, rolled it around, and pitched the idea to my prof.

I will delve into self vs traditional publishing to determine which venue best benefits the erotic author. Then I closed my eyes, held my breath, and waited for the fallout.

The fallout was that he loves the idea. It’s a very popular genre, one of the bestselling, it’s about time someone took it seriously enough to look into it.

Okay. So. I’m writing my midterm thesis on erotica. An entire paper examining the genre, its sales, and figuring out self publishing is a good idea for anyone, including an erotic author. Sweet!!

Man, I love grad school!

Rosanna Leo: Sunburn

Today we welcome the amazing and wonderful Ms. Rosanna Leo, one of my cohorts in crime over at Love, Lust and Laptops.

I’d like to begin by saying a big thank you to the lovely Emilia Mancini. I’m so pleased to be part of Love, Lust and Laptops with Emilia and proud to be a pub sister with her at Liquid Silver Books.

Of course, Emilia and I are in the love business. Now, don’t get your hackles up- it’s not quite as dirty as it sounds. We are erotic romance authors. And proud to be so.

Why erotic romance for me? Frankly, I adore the rush I get writing and reading it.

Besides, it became clear early on in my writing career that other forms of writing just didn’t appeal, or didn’t sit well with me anyway.

Take mystery writing, for example. I truly admire a good mystery writer. However, it takes too much forethought for someone with my scattered mind. I’m a bit of a pantster- I have plot ideas in mind, but don’t outline before I write. I find it too constricting. In mystery, you need to have an idea where you’re going ahead of time. If I attempted mystery, I’d get impatient, kill off the whole ensemble of characters and walk off in search of a burger. Not for me.

Then there’s sci-fi. Again, kudos to these writers, but it’s not for me. I know Captain Kirk had a few flings with green alien ladies, but no grand passions. Somehow, I just can’t look at a pic of a man with two heads, orange skin and scales and think, “Hmm, sexy.”

Of course, I could attempt political satire or government thrillers. I could also slit my own wrists. I get depressed enough hearing about government corruption on the news! I certainly don’t feel like writing about it.

I suppose I could even try sweet romance, you know, romance without the hoochy-coochy. It would never work. I need some hoochy-coochy.

So there you have it. I need my erotic romance. It keeps me sane, healthy and happy. It puts a spring in my step and a smile on my face. It gives me inspiration to approach hubby at night and say, with a twinkle in my eye, “Hey, I just read something interesting…wanna give it a go?”

No, I’ll never change. 🙂

Sunburn blurb:

Patience O’Conner is a travel blogger who lives for her work. Her dedication to her readers brings her to the famed Helios Resort in Mexico, a locale that stuns her with its beauty but at which she suffers from some very strange accidents.
Luckily, hunky resort bartender Apollo Delos is always there in the nick of time, a malcontent guardian angel. Apollo stuns Patience again and again with his life-saving abilities, to say nothing of his smoldering looks and apparent desire to keep her alive.
Before long, Patience wonders if there is more to the sexy bartender than mixed cocktails and insane first-aid skills. Something strange is happening at Helios and Apollo doesn’t want to talk about it.
Can Patience open herself up to this enigmatic man, even though she is terrified to be vulnerable again? And can Apollo recover from an eternity of hurt and learn to trust once more? They must both decide before Death comes calling.

Sunburn Excerpt:

She approached the booth, only to find the blond bartender manning it. Her eyes almost popped and she blurted, “You!”

He grinned, but there was still a tightness around his eyes, as if he were sizing her up. “Hello, Patience.” His strained expression said volumes about what he considered to be the unsuitability of her name.

She tried to ignore the sucker punch in her gut, the one that hit her as soon as his deep, velvety voice caressed her eardrums. “Aren’t you supposed to be at the bar?”

His smile grew wider, showing off his perfect white teeth. “I’m everywhere.”

“Clearly.” She forced herself to look away from his gorgeous face, feeling light-headed because of the suns dancing in her eyes, the suns that seemed to come from him. To distract herself, she touched a few of the painted bowls on display. Not that it snuffed out those blasted suns.

He stepped closer. “Do you see anything you like?”

She choked on her saliva and coughed like a victim of the Black Death. He rushed to calm her, putting his hand on her back, massaging. She recovered upon feeling his touch and was hit by the bizarre, fleeting notion his touch made her recover. As if he’d healed her.

Utter nonsense. Yet as much as it was nonsense, her head swam with the bizarre possibility.

“Better?” he asked quietly, his face serious now.

She stared into the man’s eyes. They were blue, so very blue. “Uh, yeah, thanks.” Curiosity got the better of her and the question poured out. “What’s your name anyway?”

He breathed in. “Apollo Delos.”

“Oh, wow,” she said, breaking into a grin. “Just like Apolo Anton Ohno! I loved him on Dancing with the Stars!”

He got a curious look and let out a strange laugh. “Yeah. Just like him.”

Heavenly Revenge – an erotic, romantic fantasy
Revenge can be cold and cruel.

When Rose dies before her time, two sweet, old angels send her on a mission to save another world. The angels worry she will be no match for the land’s strong and handsome king. However Rose has learned a bitter lesson
courtesy of her unfaithful and very ex boyfriend. She is strong too.

But when the lovely Rose meets  King Andrejs, she has a sweet battle on her hands. He believes she is an enemy spy who has learned a secret that may affect the outcome of the war raging between his kingdom and the land to the north. It is against Andrejs’ code to hurt a woman.

But, as both he and Rose discover, revenge doesn’t have to be cold or cruel. Revenge can be hot and very pleasurable indeed.

Rose’s long, deep, rich, red mass of sweet ringlets reminded him of the final throes of sunset, when the sun bled into the horizon. Her skin, too, had a porcelain-like quality he’d never seen before, not even in the men. She looked so creamy that he wanted to taste her.

His let his eyes wander farther down to her slight, feminine body, which his cock ached to enjoy. Now that he thought about it, it was very kind of the Anglandians to send him such a beautiful woman. She would have been expecting to use that lovely body of hers as a means of persuasion. Certainly, he would find out why this lovely little spy had been sent to his palace, but there was no harm in mixing cruel, hard warfare with pleasure, was there?

“Yes, Rose, my quandary is that if you were a man, sent down to spy on my country, I would kill you without hesitation. But you’re a beautiful woman, and I want to make love to you, although you’re still my enemy. You see my dilemma, don’t you?”

He reached out and put his hand to the small of her back, pulling her close to him, loving her woman’s softness as he forced her tiny body to press against his chest and belly. He threaded his fingers through her red curls, reveling in their strange softness, then tilted her head back and forced her to look at him. Those deep blue eyes, the color of the sea, fringed with dark lashes, stared back at him. She didn’t seem frightened, and that surprised him, for she had every reason to be. No, she appeared to be…stunned.

He focused on her lovely face. Yes, she was his adversary. But her lips were full and lush and made for kissing. So he bent his head and kissed them.

Victoria Black lives in Queensland, Australia, with her husband, Darryl, and her very disobedient dog, Toby. When she’s not writing sexy romances, Victoria enjoys playing bridge and going to exercise classes (well, it’s the coffee with everyone afterward that she enjoys). Of an evening, she loves eating Darryl’s delicious dinner and drinking a matching wine. You’ll notice food usually makes an appearance in Victoria’s books!
